Director Reel
The control room from a Sports Xtra and Carolina Week show, demonstrating my cue-calling and problem-solving skills. The first part, from Sports Xtra, has clear audio of my calls and shows the multi-screen view I utilize while directing. The second part was done during a chaotic morning for Carolina Week, and is a display of my ability to respond to crisis in the control room.
CBS Operations Support
I have worked with CBS Sports for Operations Support for multiple events, but most notable for the first and second rounds of the 2025 March Madness Tournament. I spent 4 days at Lenovo Center helping with feature interviews, preparing the trucks, and essentially picking up any task needed at any given moment.
My first time working with CBS was at a Panthers game in Charlotte, where I spent the entire day on-site supporting the trucks with supplies and other tasks.
Both of these experiences allowed me to not only have a role in the broadcasting of major sporting events, but also provided the opportunity to observe the CBS control room and to ask questions about professional production.

Broadcast Experience
On-Air
Although I definitely prefer to be behind the camera, I decided to try the on camera part of broadcast for Sports Xtra. For the Fall 24 semester, I was the Field Hockey and Tennis analyst. This required creating my segments, writing script and editing video, and operating the Ross Telestrate video board. For the Spring 25 semester, I am an anchor for Sports Xtra.

I have been lead director with all 4 of our student-run broadcasts. Most consistently with our sports recap show and newscast, Sports Xtra and Carolina Week. As a director I work alongside producers to determine what is technically possible prior to shows. Once it’s showtime, I train students on their positions and call cues in order to execute the rundown. In order to best understand the control room, I have operated all positions, but mainly the Technical Director board.

Since May 2024, I have been working as an assistant to our Broadcast Engineer. Knowing how to operate the machines wasn’t enough, I wanted to understand them. Through my work with our engineer, I have learned how to develop and troubleshoot the various parts of the control room, but especially our digital switcher and graphics machine, Xpression. I also manage our live streams, Bitfire live shots, and more.

As a director, I have worked alongside producers extensively. While I prefer the technical side of production, I decided to try producing to further my understanding of the creative aspect of broadcast. For the show, I executed a brand new live camera move for our studio and created an OTS. Watch it here!
